Andrew started playing at the age of ten and after spending his musical upbringing in traditional Irish music won the Under 18 championships on both fiddle and banjo before going on to win the Senior All-Ireland Fiddle championship in 1994.

During the 1990's, he toured extensively round USA, Europe and the UK and Ireland playing with various bands on the Celtic Rock scene, most notably "Toss the Feathers" playing at festivals and venues supporting "Whitesnake", "Steve Harley and the Cockney Rebel" and "Thin Lizzy featuring Eric Bell and Brian Robertson".

In 2008 he teamed up with Ade Edmondson and Troy Donockley to complete the line-up of the Bad Shepherds. Over three years he released two albums and played over 250 gigs at festivals such as Glastonbury, Cropredy, Cambridge and Camp Bestival. They were also nominated for a folk award in 2009.

In 2009 he joined "Future Trad Collective" with Mike McGoldrick and Ian Fletcher with their debut album being released in 2011 and played with Barbara Dickson at the Scottish folk awards in 2012.

Andrew plays bridge violins and can highly recommend them.
